Limited Edition Mega Mystery Box

I used to order the mystery boxes for my youngest daughter years ago and thought I’d give them a try again for my new grandson. The box value was nothing like what I had received before, which is a big disappointment. I know the site says $150 worth - but it’s $150 worth of stuff that weren't great sellers to begin with - and to make things worse, I could’ve bought them all for 30% off their marked prices in the website, making the actual value of my box a mere $105 - which is practically the same as the cost to buy the box to begin with (but I could have picked items I liked instead). We received a Bajo Snail Sortroller (neat!), Wee Gallery Bugs Wooden Tray Puzzle (okay but already overpriced to begin with), Konges musical pull toy walrus (not something I would have purchased), and Dinky Dinkins Sweet Treats Sadie Sprinkles (darker skin doll dressed in fuchsia outfit - would be more suitable for a girl so I’ll end up giving this away to someone else who will better appreciate it). And that was it. 🙈 I bought a box for age 1-2 years (gender not specified). The boxes I used to get were much more interesting and fuller and the values on them actually ranged from $200-250 (those were the days - one of my pictures is still being used to demonstrate on the listing 🫤). I probably won’t buy another one of these, which is disappointing because they used to be so fun to get.

The contents of the box was good and appropriate. There were unique gifts that were age appropriate. However, my experience with customer service was horrendous. I ordered the box. It says it will ship within 24-48 business hours. Despite my box not shipping yet, a few days later I ordered something else. Within 24 hrs my second purchase had shipped. At the one week mark of my first order (the mystery box) not shipping and having already received my second purchase, I messaged customer service (on a Friday). I was told it would ship out n the follow Monday. It never shipped. Another week later I email customer service and they said they would ship it… it was coming up on the next Friday… it didn’t ship. I asked if it could be overnighted since it was now going to be past my child’s birthday… the owner apparently wasn’t willing to do that. Just crappy customer service. I’d spent a lot of money at W and W and felt really disappointed that they didn’t seem to care that I wouldn’t have the bday gift for my kid. I unsubscribed from emails, left the Fb, and unsubscribed from texts… somehow regardless I received an email tonight beckoning a review. Alas here I am giving my honest feedback. They lost a customer w their terrible service.

Love the quality of what came in my 0-1yr box. My 6mo son sat by me as I unboxed and reached for almost everything that I pulled out. The total value definitely exceeds what I paid for twofold. There wasn’t a ton of variety in brand (primarily Konges Slojd and Manhattan Toy Co) and everything was more or less a toy, but I’m nonetheless very pleased because everything is so cute and of great quality!

I was so excited to order this for my son and see what we got. It took longer to ship than expected which is ok. Upon arrival we opened it immediately to find a box mostly of Legos. I had no idea Why & Whale even sold Legos so I pulled up the website to look. We’re not a Lego family and have purchased from this store because of beautiful wooden toys. If you add up the amount of the items it isn’t too much over the actual price. Sadly we will make use of one item from the box and it’s a bracelet kit. Hopefully others have better luck!

I love the mystery boxes and they always have a good range of toys for my kiddos. I try to pick one up every time they are available.
